Auch wenn es einem vielleicht unangenehm ist einen Geocache nicht gefunden zu haben, sollte man diesen Logtyp dennoch benutzen. Gerade bei Geocaches, die selten gesucht werden, ist jede Art der Rückmeldung für den Owner wichtig. Wenn dann ein „Nicht gefunden“ ins Haus flattert, ist das für den Besitzer oft das einzige Indiz, dass mit dem Geocache etwas nicht stimmen könnte. Kommt gar kein Log, geht ein Besitzer oftmals einfach davon aus, dass der Geocache lediglich nicht gesucht wurde.

If there are no logs for some time the owner would usually think, that everything is okay and just noone is seeking.


Wichtig ist hierbei auch, warum der Geocache nicht gefunden wurde. Ist die Dose definitiv nicht am vermuteten Ort gewesen? Hat man nicht die nötige Ausrüstung dabei gehabt? Waren zu viele [[Fachjargon#Muggel|Muggel]] vor Ort, so dass eine Suche unmöglich war?
You should add information why you did not find the geocache. Was there absolutely nothing to find at an obvious hiding place? Did you see remainings of a possible cache container? Was the hint making no sense (anymore)? Was the place crowded with [[muggle]]s? Did you forget necessary equipment?
All dies sind wichtige Informationen für den Besitzer, der daraufhin entsprechend reagieren kann, indem er z.B. eine [[Cachepflege#Cache ersetzen|neue Dose auslegt]], die Cachebeschreibung/Listing anpasst, usw.


Auch hier kann natürlich Kritik erfolgen: z.B. „auf diesen Geocache habe ich verzichtet, weil mir das Versteck einfach zu fies war“ oder „hier habe ich nicht weitergesucht, hier lag mir zu viel Müll“. Aber auch hierbei: bleibt höflich und beleidigt euch nicht gegenseitig. Oft ist z.B. eine [[Location]] erst zur Müllhalde geworden lange nachdem dort der Geocache versteckt war, und der Besitzer weiß dies noch gar nicht.

Unter Umständen kann es sein, dass man ein bereits geschriebenes Log wieder löschen möchte. Die Gründe dafür können vielfältig sein. So kann man sich z.B. beim Loggen einfach vertan haben, oder man möchte als Owner nicht 25 gleiche Statuslogs untereinander stehen haben etc....

Benutzt man diesen Button, wird man noch einmal gefragt, ob man diesen Logeintrag löschen möchte. Bestätigt man dies, wird der Logeintrag entfernt.


Auch als Owner kann man die Logeinträge von Findern seiner Caches löschen. Dies sollte jedoch nie aus einer Laune heraus geschehen, z.B. weil man denjenigen nicht mag, sondern immer einen triftigen Grund haben. Gründe dafür könnten z.b. sein, dass im Log nicht tragbare politische (z.B. rechtsradikale) oder beleidigende Äußerungen gemacht wurden. Man sollte sich vor allem immer im Klaren darüber sein, dass der Finder – er wird per Email über die Löschung benachrichtigt – wenig begeistert sein wird und sich u.U. am Cache rächen wird. Kaum zu glauben, aber so etwas kommt leider immer wieder vor. Daher ist dieser Schritt in jedem Fall gut zu überlegen.
